Summer is here and it can be hard to find enough activities to keep your kiddos busy. Don’t stress! I’ve come up with a list of free and inexpensive activities to keep your kiddos busy all summer long!
This is a great alternative to planning a day trip to the pool. First of all, it’s FREE! No need to pack a swim bag and snacks. Your kids will have just as much fun running through the sprinklers as they would at the local pool.
- Sidewalk chalk
As a kid, I remember how much fun it was to decorate the driveway with fun pictures. Make it fun and draw out games of tic tac toe or hopscotch. I know my preschooler loves using chalk outside to practice his letters.
Visit your local library and see what kind of summer programs they have. If you kids aren’t old enough to join a summer reading program, many libraries offer free summer activities like musicians, magicians and story time.
I know setting up a craft for your toddler or preschool can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Try to just do 1 or 2 a week for the younger kids. There are endless possibilities for cheap fun crafts on Pinterest. Click here for some ideas
- Swim Lessons or Summer Sports
Check out your local city website. I signed up my son for swim lessons this summer and it was only 20 dollars! I also signed him up for summer Tball to keep him busy a few evenings a week.
This may seem like a no brainer but turn it into a playdate. Inviting other moms will give you some much-needed adult interaction; and your kiddos will have other kids to play with
- Movie Theater
Check to see if your local movie theater has any summer programs. I know our movie theater offers free kid’s movies every Tuesday morning. Since the movies are aimed towards kids, you don’t have to be as stressed about them moving around or being noisy. Worst case scenario: you have to leave early. But hey at least it was free/discounted.
